You can spend 550$ and still get nothing to show for it, where as other games you spend 550$ and you get EVERYTHING to show for it.
Or a new computer, rent.. a car.. etc

Remember T? He had a guild just for chars himself (and it was full). He's one of the people that started the whole thing of thinking botting is cool.
