I, personally, (and this is not meant to offend) think you should wait to build "experimental" characters until you are more equipped with basic characters because you won't really need a EKM til later on. So you should really focus on getting at least 1 water and 2 fires
Also, take your time with your pets, focus on bursting your characters first because it will be easier to burst/train/especially lethe pets when you can do the quests (by yourself) to obtain and lethe said pets. (Unless it's Joan or Venus/Athena)
An old guildmate of mine managed to build near-perfect pets with only the 14 pet scrolls from quests.
Since you mention you have a burst/cuss team already it should limit you to being able to burst at most two new characters (but more likely one) I would put my spare characters in the chicken farm to collect seeds and food for syrups while leveling your pet of choice if it can't burst, or just to level 20
Edit nine hundred and two: You can level up to 36? at chicken farm in twoish weeks, of course it's easier to go other places but you'll get plenty of seeds, rice and barley in the meantime
