Been a while since I've been on this site, but I've found something interesting to share with the members of this community. Apparently through my random search of wlo-related things out of boredon, I found the wlo "private server", as I've read the information, apparently the server is completely free due to the fact that they primarily run on donations. I myself have not tested this new server out, but if by chance I can, I'll share some information about this new server. Hopefully, if it is indeed worth playing, other players could start playing in that private server, that way I wouldn't be alone if I decided to play >:3

But it is not done yet, so nothing can really be done on it.

This one appears to be up and running, I haven't actually tested it yet, but I've downloaded the files for the new server. I'll probably try to make it "work" with wlo if I have time. I'm mostly busy with doing nothing now days so I don't know.

I'd share the name of the site, but I don't know if it's trust-worthy or not or if it's up and running. If I have some time this week or weekend, I'll try to do some magic an see if it'd work. If it does work, I'll share the site and point out some features in there.

Is this private server thing "legal"? I know a site but the site itself leads to "illegal" stuff or attachments to your wlo...

Dunno if it is indeed legal, but if it was illegal, I don't see how it would really affect anyone, because that would be out of the reach of IGG.

And clearly John's avatar has the epic cool dark flame on it while your has the bright. :P his is better

Well...the funny thing is. It runs with the original game. All you do is add the data files into the server or wherever file and a new server appears when you run the game. I haven't been able to find how to get it up and running though.

There are quite alot of online games with mods and private servers, the chances that the host would get sued by this company is quite unlikely.

Actually it is likely.. It is a third party program and not a program of the company so yeah.. I'm no lawyer or anything but i think any third party program isn't good?

Third party programs are exactly what they are, a program used in the game to enhance game play and such. Since this private server does not enhance game play, it would not be classified as a third party software.

Third party programs would depend on most companies. Most companies would automatically deny the use of third party software, while some would actually encourage it. Though there are some rare cases, evidently, the worst a company could do would be to either request a shut down, possible sue, or a ban of the characters of the private server players. I hardly doubt the third option would suite IGG considering they shut down their wlo Live Support, so...I don't see how they would be active enough to track down private server players.

They can get sued for simply using the data, private server belonging to the game or not, they can still get sued.

As can the people who own bots, they all can get sued from using the data without permission.

Put it in terms of stealing someones art

You take it, upload it to another site, and don't give credit, nor asked for permission to upload it to a totally different site.

Therefore if you do not take it down, when asked by the owner, you can get sued.

I think if you use a data that's not officially aligned with the original company, it is still a third party program. Or even though it supports the data or uses the same codes and etc, it's still not product of that company so yeah. Its almost same as bot or those remote to e-remote stuff.

Well, what's the point of private servers anyways? Is it like your the only 1 in it? if so, it's gonna be possible to do 8 round burst or repeat using bot cause no1 can catch us? I don't get what's the purpose of private server since wlo is losing and losing peeps. I know taurus 2,3 and 4 are empty during weekdays.

Private servers would probably be made by the bot people, and you can't report it so all rules are off, I guess?

Of course they could sue, but in short, it is a completely different game from the original. Unless they have the same exact files and such, I don't see how they could ever sue someone for just copying. For all anyone knows, they could have just made the data themselves. If IGG was a fully functional company, they would have requested a shut down for the private server ages ago. However, as I see no notification of such an action, I truly believe they have no jurisdiction over the owners of the private server nor would they enforce jurisdiction.

they just shutdown these servers when someone reports them. they don't look for them actively.

If anyone even reads this thread anymore, I know for a fact someone was working on a private server. I knew the guy who was making one. He was in the process when I was moved away from him. It was on a site that is now shut down. I don't know if he moved on from Wonderland Online or just forgot. I'll find out. :)
