Ive been working on building a water priest. Most of my points have gone into wis and con because i intend on it to be an assist character. but something hit me today. How will i train that char after rb. Is there a way to train it with a team without me having to dump points into matk or atk, or do i need to put some in there while i can. If the latter, would it be better to put them into atk or matk and how much would be needed in my situation. Thanks for any help and advice.

If it's a support character, you don't need high matk, just having a pet with decent atk can suffice enough for you to train. Typically priests do not have high matk, they usually have around 600ish matk or perhaps higher, I've yet to see any priest with enough matk to solo train without a pet.

But I'd recommend you make a fire, it'd help you alot, also if you are the type of person to join teams with other players and train, I'd say you try to get an econ so that they won't give you the boot.

If you have a melee that can one-hit things and combo with you, that'll work too. (Nicetomeetyou; Sorry if I am repeating.. I didn't see you mention it..)

You should try to create a melee, any melee would work, but fires are typically easier to train and have that elemental bonus so they are typically stronger than any one element.

By the way, what server are you in? I know a few people in just about every server who might be able to help you, but it depends, I haven't been on some servers for a long time, just visiting.

I have always thought a water with the INABILITY to sleep (if not a mellee) is a wasted character just my opinion , of course if its just a pestler tank that's a diffrent issue xD

So as long as i can get it to attack combo with my fire I should be ok? and it does have sleep ken. It has all the assist skills unlocked just not much in the way of atk/matk....One other question I was told something that seem odd to me yesterday in game so i figured I would ask about it here. I was told I needed to put at least around 80 into matk because it affects how much it heals. Is this true? Just didnt make sense to me. Thanks

I would say add at least 200 int. BUT!!! If you want to make a decent sealer, you will also need some agi. So, if you plan to use pestle, go for priest with high con and wis. If that char is your only water... sorry, but I think wits and seers (with proper build) are much better. Depends on your team and style, though.
And for training, rbed Elin would be great. Or a fire in team, can be mage if you dont mind using some sp food.

@Shockkota. HP healing skills like Cure Spell and Recovery and SP healing skills like Magic Recovery and Soul Dodge are affected by MAT. The more MAT your character has, the more you'll be able to heal. Your character build of DEF and MDEF for a Water Priest is perfectly fine, and as long as you can combo with others, you won't need to worry about adding STR or INT. If you plan to be the healer of the team, just equip MAT based equipment. Either way, you'll have high SP and Reviving should be no problem for you. (assuming you've maxed the skill.)

@Shockkota. You're welcome. Did you need any other questions answered about your Water Priest?

you forgot some "k's" dave.

It still depends on what you are wanting, It'd be best to try to get a melee hitter in your team or make one, it will help you alot when you train and save money and time. Also around 150 int would be ideal, the more int you have and the more matk you have, the better your seals are and the more sp you obtain from soul dodge, and the more you heal.

The game calls it MAT...

The players call it MATK.

So he was correct.

It's written as MAT when you see your stats, and MATK when you see your equipment. I prefer MAT, just as I may prefer to see MDEF written as MDF. Same rule applies to that abbreviation as well.

My goal is to use it questing, as an assist character. And after i rb the water and my fire wit, a strength focused fire is next. Havent decided anything other than that though. So no more questions for now.
