Greetings and hello once again.

Wonderland Online is almost 4 years old now. And it will have a celebration to all Wonderland Online fanatics there for sure. Wonderland Online 4 years back was the first, yes I meant to say, the first MMORPG that introduced Strategic Turn-Based gameplay and interface to the online gaming industry. But do you think it has no formidable competitions after its existence? Think otherwise. I am not here to introduce these games, hence, I am posting this just to show you, what are the games Wonderland Online is up against. No offense or insults attached, just want to inform you the facts.

So far there are only 2 MMORPG's that also use Strategic Turn-Based gameplay into their online games. And here they are:

Atlantica Online
Country of Origin: South Korea
Releasing Year: 2008
English Distributor: NDoors Games, GameNGame

2 years after Wonderland Online's impact over online gaming, Atlantica Online made its mark before it go global. It was the most anticipated game on MMORPG.com and MMOSITE.com prior to its open beta on Winter 2008. Gaming experts says that this game revolutionized the game should be played. "It makes you think rather than pressing buttons.", as one expert says.

In this game, every unit, or the mercenary is specialized on something. A lancer and gunner can attack an enemy group in a column. The "Viking" can smash its huge axe in a single stroke on those enemies aligned in a row.

Like Wonderland Online, you need to complete a specific quest in order for you to get the mercenary that you would love to add to your unit, like getting Kanako, or Angela in WLO.

It also has a PvE(Player vs. Environment), dungeons, instances and PvP(Player vs. Player) system, just like WLO. This game is appealing to the eyes, since it's very well refined 3D, meaning that the characters, the environment and others are detailed, as in very detailed, right to the very little ends of it.

Before it's international debut, Atlantica Online already won awards in its home country, and received many great reviews from different MMORPG dedicated sites and gaming fans. A very big competition indeed.

Monster Forest Online
Country of Origin: China
Year of Release: Summer 2010
English Distributor: TBA

This game, still under development already hit #1 in the most anticipated game in the MMOSITE.com. But already had its closed beta testing in Vietnam, Thailand, China and Taiwan.

If you played console RPG's like Chrono Cross, think of this game is the cute version of it. Again, another big rival of Wonderland.

Final Thoughts

When someone started, someone might be following and would try to outdo you. That's what we call competition. We just have to admit that, every innovation that being pioneered, will always be outrun by others that has a better idea to you, even you set the foundation to it.

It only goes down on one thing, competitiveness. Are you going to eat the same devils egg over and over for the rest of your life, or you will look outside of the window, and judge it for yourself, which is better.

Happy summer everyone!

Just asking, did TS came out first or WLO did? I used to play TS long time ago, surely more than 4 years ago, and as we know, the game mechanics are identical, and by the same developer?

@Noxukau1

Mate, Aion is not considered as a Strategic Turn-based MMORPG, hence it's your typical third person MMORPG, like Rohan, and stuff.

This is all about your turn-based MMORPG's and so far there are only few who took the challenge.

I forgot to mention about Zodiac Online. It's also a Turn-based MMORPG like WLO and Atlantica Online. I didn't post it since it didn't make the cut. If you want look for it for yourself.

Homer, I'm not a game specialist, but are you absolutely sure of what you're writing?
Before WLO there was Myth War (also by IGG), which has exactly the same turn-based system as WLO (with pets, turns, etc.). It was released 2 years before WLO. It had better graphics, worked smooother and supported various screen resolutions- WLO supports only one resolution. Myth War was translated properly to english, while WLO is more like "engrish" with all misspelled words and wrong phrases.
Sure WLO has some better things, like manufacture, but the rest of the life skills are more or less taken from other games (for example "Eternal Lands" developed by players themselves). Honestly saying that WLO has "an impact" on the online gaming is a serious overstatement. Sure it has an impact but no more and no less than other games.

@bloo777

Let's say I only write what me and my fellow gamers converge upon. Of course we played Myth War, and even Myth War 2 Online.

But we're talking about turn-based MMORPG's here, not just your usual MMORPG's like Ragnarok Online. You can only count with your fingers how many games dared to turn strategic turn-based gameplay.

To start, Wonderland really starts it. I think that was the Summer of 2006. And also from that time, there are the "usual" MMORPG's like Trickster Online Revolution, Silkroad, RAN, RF, 2Moons(now known as Dekaron) and many more are hitting the online gaming industry.

After 2 years, what are the other games emerged and used the strategic turn-based gameplay as their complex of playing? Atlantica Online. This year, 2 more added to the mix. Monster Forest and Zodiac Online.

I am not making Wonderland Online an overhyped game. Hence, we viewed WLO as the pioneer of introducing turn-based MMORPG gameplay into the fray, and somewhat, balance the landscape of gaming.

Because MMORPG's are not always about third person, first person interface. Turn-based MMORPG's are do belong as well.

That's all mate..
