I posted a certain thread to some MMORPG website forums(excluding the WLO IGG and wlodb.com forums so it may affect the results drastically), asking them what element suits them, and for them the most useful both training and battle respectively. And according to 300 respondents, who also played/still playing and observed WLO, I came up with these data. Please note that this does not represent the whole WLO community's population. Read before you reply. The MMORPG forums I asked are confidential, because as you know, conducting a survey do require confidentiality.
According to these 300 respondents, I came up with certain percentages, that they think is the element suits for them, together with some of their own view, that I will narrow down to few points.
35% of the respondents said they want/like Water.
24% says they say Fire is very awesome.
20.5% replied that Wind and Earth suits them the most.
Here are some insights from those players:
Water
Pros - A very reliable support.
Cons - Like every support in other games, SP is a liability.
They've never seen a versatile supporter in this game like in WLO. It can be a melee combatant, at the same time, can be a conventional supporter like they've never saw in other online games before. But the main problem is still there, and a bit complicated. You need to attack and support at the same time, because of that you need more MP/SP recovery items with you for you to continue on using Water's support skill. The awesome thing in WLO, that if a character died in the battlefield(NPC character or another player), when you had a Water in your team that's not a problem at all. It's like carrying a FF Tactics priest with you all the time anytime you have a very difficult quest to finish. And level 10 Revive equals to 100% HP resurrection?! It's like having a Raise 3 spell on your priest in FFT(which a spell that doesn't exist, just a hyperbole). You don't need a Life Bottle(like in Atlantica) or a Phoenix Down(Final Fantasy) to raise your dead teammate. It is very unique, to have this kind of training called "Bursting", where Water play a role on it together with other elements.
Earth
Pros - A compliment support to Water. Specialized on pumping one's defense.
Cons - Does not "like" Water in the game, literally.
If you want defense, defense and a big DEFENSE. Earth is the element for you. Stone Wall(reminds them of Golem summon of FF Tactics) and Defense UP spell are really catchy for these tank junkies. Imagine if you put more HP and DEF on it, physical attacks are like steel smashing into a diamond, with matching shaking animation like in the cartoons.
Fire
Pros - Impressive damage inflicter.
Cons - If you want a decent burst training, you should buy a Ton hammer(at any -SPD amount depends on your Fire character's speed) at WLO's item mall. That might hurt "poor" players. Hates water, again literally.
Did someone said attack?! Call on Fire and let's burn and blow the monsters into smithereens. With its flashy and yet more impressive damage, attack loving players will fall in love with it. Whether its magic or melee, you'll definitely hooked up with it. A main contributor on recent way of "bursting", which is composed on 3 Fire and a Water. The amount of damage the enemy receive is the EXP you get from the enemy. The only downside is, you really need to spend on something that they call -SPD accessory, or what we call Ton Hammer. IF you watch Tom and Jerry tales, I'm sure you saw a 1T weigh fall on Tom's head. It drops your speed dramatically, as in, like several iron balls and chains are strapped on you at once, to reduce your speed at 0.
Wind
Pros - With high SPD, it can attack 7 to 8 out of 10 turns, you can have the initial attack. A defense breaker. Loves to irritate Earth with its defense debuffs.
Cons - It hates Fire. Ignition source + Oxygen + Fuel = Fireworks(kindly find the meaning for yourself^_^).
Speed is the main advantage of this element. In other games, speed means how fast your rate of attack, or your dodge/evasion rate is. In WLO, the faster you are, the higher the chance you always attack first. Second to Fire in terms of flashy skills, in melee. The "Dead Wind Attack" of Wind reminds them of Tales of Destiny 2(Tales of Innocence), Reid Herschell's Super Lightning Blade, and Wind Hit/Beating is like Twin Sonic Blade and Sonic Chaos, and for some, like Jack Vam Brace's Sonic Slash on Wild ARMs 1. Really fun to watch.
I would like to remind everyone, this doesn't represent the whole WLO community. These are from people, who replied on my survey threads on various MMORPG websites. They know the game, the gameplay, the mechanics, and developed manuals of their own on playing WLO. Please be reasonable and make sure it relates on the topic. These are their views, including mine, mixing it up to share what these players outside of wlodb.com/forum.wl.igg.com. I don't know why they don't want to join the WLO forums, they're just there to read, not to interact, and whatever their reason is, it didn't matter. These are their opinions. Judge it.
