You need to enter EGYPT (not the piramid, but egypt) yourself, it is vital that YOU enter egypt with your plane. Then you'll see a cutscene involving the Scorpion king, only after seeing that cutscene you are able to enter that room with the torch.

So hop in a plan, fly out of egypt and fly back to egypt and all your problems should be solved.
