The reason you have to train and get horrible xp at lower levels is because your pet cant equip equipment. Thus you cant add all the extra hp to make them live at higher level mobs. You may have a Water with a remote but if the pet is killed the last round of the battle and you are set to spawn you will still spawn. Only quick fix for that is Potential, Scrolling, and Pet boosters. You can safely train at the Tree in Hanging gardens with around 600-650hp.
