I guess knowing when I die is more important. I can just choose when to get married, but I can't change fate (unless suicide but that's another matter xD)

Imagine this: You and (most important person to you) walk along the streets when suddenly a stranger appears out of nowhere, attempting to shoot you - your companion jumps in front of you, catching the bullet, goes down. He/she is still alive, but you know it's too late to save him/her. You only have few seconds to decide:

Would you rather stay with your companion and hear their last words, comfort them etc., or would you run after the killer and beat the crap out of him because you know he would only get like 3 months in prison?
