Absolute Waste, you have superior alchemy and you choose to use primary. You could have had 5 king gowns instead of one.

Did you use a book in the process?

it will only work with primary, since primary considers first mat as base mat, and dont consider all of the formulas exactly as they should be.
Back in the days where we only had primary, we didnt make all the bows for example with wood+grass, we used Dragon Staff + bronze halberd + tooth haha
There are some other formulas of items, easier to obtain using primary than superior, and its really fun to try them out if you can afford.
For recipes that have multiple results, like grass+flower and skin+grass its actually a better way sometimes to use primary.

I remember that guide. It's been years since I've read it, was a very decent guide though I didn't know how to compound until v4 came out.

since it is grass and flower base, you using grass and jade, you will never get a kings gown !Check the recipe in the database says first macth doesntmacht! attention duh!

The point of this topic, as some of you are failing to realize...

Superior Alchemy recognizes the highest Item Rank as the 1st base, regardless of the order it's placed in the compound. Primary Alchemy ignores Item Rank in that sense, and recognizes each base material in the order it's placed into the compound.

Grass Hat (R24 Grass) + Black Jade (R25 Jade) + Alchemy Book 3 = King's Gown (R28 Grass/Flower)

Grass Hat being of lower Item Rank will only be recognized as the base material in Primary Alchemy, which means this compound will only successfully work in Primary Alchemy. The point of this topic is that Black Jade is Jade base, not Flower base. So according to King's Gown base materials, this compound should not work because the 2nd base does not match. @TheWind's screenshots prove that this compound does work.
