Ok so i hate 2 thing about this game.(i want to apologize from now for my bad english)
First its leveling. After you get, let's say level 10, everything slows waaaaay down like it feels like slow motion, because it is not like every enemy gives an amount of xp, you get xp base on the difference of levels and later on you will have to get so much xp and get nothing even after hours of fighting enemies.I mean i am at level 12 and i am farming of enemies that are level 22 AND still i don't get that much xp. If you ask me (what I believe) in most game if you fought an enemy that had this much level difference between you and him,you would get 1 level of one enemy(or at least close to 1 level). And i know there is a remote control so that you don't have to be online all the time and can go afk and do something else while the character farms, but i don't think that is a good idea. You want the player to actually play the game and not just have a way to go afk and the game will play for him. What the system should be (at least to me) is that every enemy gives an amount of xp base on THERE LEVEL and not the difference BETWEEN my level and the enemy level.
And second, money. Why don't enemies drop gold? and selling stuff is almost useless because you just get money base around the rank of the item and you get almost nothing, the only real way to get money at the start is to pray for no one to be at the usual farming spot where all the high level ones, well farm, and hope that they drop the useless stuff so that you can sell it.That is the only way i got money in the game, and to me it seems stupid.I think the game is suppose to be highly online so the only way to get money is from the players but still.
I want to know what is your opinion on my thoughts about the xp system and the money system.(and pls tell me if i am missing something big that will actually change my mid about this game)

There's way more stuff that's wrong with this game so I'll try to make a list and keep the descriptions short

1. EXP as you said, not a fair curve, the number of debuffs and the damage of the killing blow determines how much you get but only if you or your pet participated in the killing blow, takes way too much time for a new player without the help of a veteran player to get to lvl 50 even which is not even 1/4th of the max level (because rebirth)
2. money, the best method to for new players is to farm ores for a few days straight and sell them and that gives you like 5k which is stupid to expect in the first place, in an economy which is inflated beyond belief
3. equipment crafting, RNG fiesta with no 100% guarante on item recipes, and the fact that there's a version of an item for every 2 level is just a fodder for making it look like the game has content
4. furniture and other crafting you do in your home, takes way too much time for everything, and why put a 1:10 ratio crafting recipe in the machines when you can make the material 1:1 in an alchemy recipe that takes less than 5 seconds
5. lack of depth in the skill/gear system, gear gives stats and pretty much that's it, there are some exceptions but not much, and you don't really need much thought when you build your skills, you either go this way or that way and pretty much that's it
6. monetization model, you can sell premium items for in game cash but can't buy premium cash for in game cash, that and the duping/other kinds of hacking make it really unfair for the majority of the playerbase
7. not having a dedicated marketplace, needing to go into every single persons house for 1 or 2 items you're looking for and then getting disappointed that the tent is empty without anything sold in it just to troll you
8. travelling should simply rely on gold for fees not tickets, since I can't even recall where you can get those for free, and there should be some kind of indication of where you should be heading at what level, but since leveling is not a good example in this game because you'll be spending most of your time on south island bursting (which is an AFK activity and takes away from gameplay more)

there's probably more but these are just the ones that i can recall pretty much every time i think of the game.
maybe if they didn't kill private servers there would be a way to actually play this game in an enjoyable way, but since i restarted on the chinese server after years of not playing and with actual english knowledge i came to see just how much worse this game is than i originally thought

if you enjoy the grinding types of games i recommend checking out Path of Exile for a fantasy kind of setting or Warframe for a sci-fi setting, both have the best monetization models on the market and are still free to play, they feel like heaven even after normal not too much pay to win games so they will probably feel even better after this game (and don't be afraid of Warframes exceedingly flashy graphics, that game could run on a toaster it's that well optimized)

There is something magical called "Burst" that catapults you from low level, to high level, and is the only way to enjoy the game to the fullest, so to speak, and the game itself economy is somewhat difficult because it is As in life, nobody gives you anything, if you get friends or people high level, you can make them give you what is no longer useful and you do not stink so much (if you do not want to spend real money in the game), something else is that it is always good to have people willing to help you, like a guild to support you. I'm from the new server after the merge. Cancer 1, if you want to whispeame if you keep playing to see what we can do! Rekaum / Dragon1802 / Dragon1801

I agree that every MMO is a grind, but, "Grind is a state of mind, not a state of gameplay." And while WLO is no different, the point in time you realize how much you'll need to grind is around lvl 5 (or 10) and it's way too early. The game is simplified to the point where if you get a new offensive skill you don't have any reason to still use the one you used before except if your weapon is not compatible with the new skill. Status effets can only be applied through utility spells and not through attacks (except DS i guess, i never had any of those so i wouldn't know for sure) means there's really no upside for using the offensive skills which do less damage. As for bursting, correct me if I'm wrong but the last time i checked the E-remote which is pretty much mandatory for bursting is locked behind a paywall. Also, bursting might give a reasonable amount of EXP but it's based on the debuffs you applied and the overall damage that kills the monster which determines the final value of EXP meaning if you don't get any help from higher level players it will take you way too long even to get to lvl 50.

I could rant about this a lot more but I have stuff to do so here's what i think could save WLO as a game for a few years still: Make a team of players and give them a server that you can access from the official client. Let them develop the server and make improvements based on their own experience as gamers, and people who are part of the community and listen to what people would like to see in the game. Make the cash shop so that it's present and the team they hired could get a portion of the profits for their efforts. I think this could be possible, given how many people tried to make a private server before, but were shot down. Perfecting a game that's as old as this is impossible, but improving it the way the community would like could even bring in new players.

Ultimately this is all just my opinion, but I think there's ration in it, so even if you disagree with my thought process, I think there's no reason to not admit that this game has a lot of poor design choices.

The qoute from the begginning was from Adam MIllard's video on youtube titled "How Great Games Beat The Grind" I highly reacommend it, as well as the whole channel for some insight of video game design choices and such.

Actually, I really like about this game that leveling is not as fast as in most other MMOs nowadays, which I feel are made for very impatient people. Easy, fast progress, little effort. That's not what I'd put my passion into - so I'm really fine with the slow leveling system, in the end you feel like you actually accomplished something when you have a high level in this game (in case that you obtained it by hard training and patience and dedication - not by duping, of course!).

About money, yeah mobs could drop gold, I wouldn't mind it. On the other hand, whether you get a small amount of money drop, or you get items you sell for that small amount of money - it hardly makes a difference. This game was made in another time, had its high time 10 years ago, and back then, what you now call "little money you get from mobs" was enough money to get nicely through the game. Influation came later, and that's why the money you get from drops feel like a too small amount nowadays - but this problem is player-made, was casued through massive gold-botters in the past, it is not the game itself which first created this problem. So about this part, you are actually complaining about other players' behavior.

I see your point about accomplishment things through hard work, it's just that i don't feel like "I" was the one who accomplished that by AFK-ing 24/7. I miss the actual gameplay, the decision making, the feel of overall progress. Besides, MMO levelling nowadays is at the pace it is because:
1, people have limited time to play because work, family, etc. the overall everyday stuff you need to do (and I'm not counting kids and teenagers here because they're not the ones who bring the most amount of profit for f2p titles that depend on the players.)
2, Most MMOs actually start when you reach the endgame. The levelling process will always the a part of a tutorial where you get to know the mechanics of the game so that when you reach the endgame you won't be surprised by every single thing you see because it might just be a different version of a mechanic you're at least somewhat familiar with. For example, I consider finishing the story in Path of Exile = finishing the tutorial. The story carries you to around level 70 and then introduces you to the Atlas which is where the endgame and the game overall actually begins. There are a lot of other things outside of the Atlas you were not yet ready to do yet, and might still not be, but as you progress through your Atlas, you learn more and more, which enemies to watch out for, which modifiers are deadly to your build on the maps, etc.
A game should never stop teaching you about itself 100%, because then if there's nothing new and you've seen everything a big factor of discovering the unknown is lost, there should always be new tricks or tactics to discover as the game is being updated, though that would require a developer team which actually cares about their players, sadly there's less and less of those people nowadays.

About the money system, the first step would be to ban all the hackers. It's true that the players are in control of the economy, but if there is no goldsink the players can put their money into, then there is no way to stop inflation and new players will have harder times to actually participate in the economy even without all the hackers. If you can't simply get players to "throw away their gold" then there's no way to stop inflation, it might not be this simple, but this is the core of it IMO. It's true that new players will always have a hard time to participate in an MMO's economy if they didn't play from day 1, but they can still work their way there in matter of time that doesn't require from them to farm 24/7. But this is a rather bad point because I'm going back to the fact that this is an AFK game, where small gameplay sessions don't make a difference.

Honestly speaking, there's obvious blatant flaws to this game but then again which game doesn't have flaws, considering how long It's been out for and how long It's been neglected for, the problems stated here seems moronic.

You're faulting a game that was created a decade ago, mostly neglected even when It was active even by the original developers.
Obviously I still agree with certain points that were dumb decisions from the get-go.

But here's my take on It.
1, Exp Is a issue, generally speaking bursting shouldn't even have existed, I think making quests into potentially bounty/side quests a viable way to level would have been the best option here, this gives you an option of "actually" playing while being able to go anywhere.

2, The best way for a newbie to earn Is actually material/furniture selling early on, Into Alchemy or some form of cuss/quest. If the server was fresh however Ore's Is the right answer.
Gold sinks are half answers, It'll only delay the problem but not actually solving It, then again economical problems aren't going to be solved permanently anyways.

3, I actually like Alchemy, sure It's rng but most items besides rare variables that will occur are mostly almost certain, personally like the amount of "fodder" at the very least there were shit load of options for a equipment set rather then a "meta" set for X level.

4, I believe this Is intended, judging by the way the game was set out to be with the "slow" paced feel. Generally I don't see a problem with It being slow anyways, It just meant that players that wanted a better looking "home" actually has to give a shit about It.

5, This Isn't Wlo's issue this Is how games that were released a decade ago was made, especially for the genre Wlo was gunning for.
"you either go this way or that way" Is generally true for most mmo's nowadays even PoE, I don't care If you're gonna tell me oh there's 1billion builds possible for PoE, when only a couple are Meta and Meta Is there for a reason.

6, Some games you can't even sell Premium items for In game cash, "can't buy premium cash for In game cash" Is lowkey RMT.
Hacks/dupes ruins every game In existence, what's your point?.

7, I agree but If this game was updated constantly like Maplestory for example was It'll go down this route, "eventually".

8, Same as 7, although this shouldn't apply to most areas, because this will defeat the purpose of cellar key+vehicles.

Small game-play sessions are actually required, without quests you're not going to be able to do anything, that includes even starting the bursting session.
Additionally, this game Is a afk game so... does It even matter about a players potential availability playspan.
