Ingredients needed:

Coal
Coconut

Compound Coal Ore with any of common ores from Kelan cave except for iron ore and obsidian.

Compounding the other coal results in the same way also works.

for the tar just collect coconuts, fish and yellow croaker. create coconut oil and compound it with the fish or yellow croaker. Compound the naphtha and heavy oil you get as results in the same way. unless the results fail you will always be able to get tar.

And voila you have just made both the components needed to make coal block for the steamship.

I compound my coal ores n coconut oil with muck n repeat till i get coal n tar for each

You can also recycle coconut oil and tar,naphtha.......etc.

BUT i don't like this way !! i make them by manufacturing BUT it took me 5days to make 30 coal blocks

No once the items become crude oil you can't get it back into the sesame or soybean oils so the recycling method is only good if your aim is to get crude oil the method I have explained above (use primary Alchemy) is highly guarenteed to get tar much like my method I posted for getting hard aluminum plate on the official forums

There are other ways to make fuels but I have found these the most efficent.

I make about 10 stacks of Coal Block per week, there's just not enough muck for all that compounding. I know it's expensive, but I compound Coal Ore, Coal Sand, Coal Ball with Bread from Kelan NPC. 500g per stack, but at 250k - 500k for a stack of Coal Block, I don't mind the investment. I've made several M in the last 2 weeks doing this. The hardest thing is collecting enough Coal Ore to keep the Coal Block stacks coming.
I prefer to stick with rank 1 items, as I use Junior Alchemy and using a rank 2+ item as the 2nd material can screw up the Coal base...

With having all manufacturing time reduction furniture, it's 616 minutes for a stack of Coal Block. I usually get to make 2 per day, but sleep and other IRL stuff keep me from being able to star a manufacture every time the character's ready.

to get coconuts go to Bangkok the npc sells it for 1 = 30g i guess i recommend you make your recorded spot there so you can go there as many times as you want.. it can help for Rb to :)

I can't get coal blocks by compounding coal and tar....all I get is soybean oil, sunflower oil and everything else I don't want T.T And common stones....

I compound coal ore with saltpeter or copper ore to get coal.
Then the results with copper ore from NPC in Kelan till I get coal.
It helps if you can have at least 2 characters or more collecting coal ore.

Tar: Go to Bangkok
Buy coconuts and put thru centrifuge to get the coconut oil.
Then compound the coconut oil with Lauan wood to get tar, naphtha, heavy oil, etc.
Keep compounding result with Lauan wood till you get what you want.

My alchemy level is primary 9.31 and I get lots of tar and naphtha doing this.
