Umm...i want to ask this question? Is Sam useful or useless, He don't attack strong or something....I think hes good at water sheilding..

Does he have high attack?
Does he have Defense?
Does he have high speed?

To me he is stupid and useless (to me)

(Warning, he is my favorite pet in the game no matter what version, I was anticipating his release since I learned about it in v2 so I know alot about what my own Sam can and can't do and what I can expect from him in general. :D SAM FTW.)

Heh, USEFUL if you level him. Four reasons for this:

1. His RB skill PWNS ALL. It's said to be godly damage for a pet.

2. After lvl 90 or so he's very strong against fires, especially useful in quests when u don't have strong (m)atk or you're wind. XD I find him helpful just to finish off enemies, mine's lvl 60 and he does about 5-700 damage depending on element (in other words, he pokes them pretty hard so u don't need to waste a turn finishing off enemies you didn't crit on XD)...

3. Water shield. 1/2 the damage for matks :D I've found this extremely useful for helping with GS, FS, RB, 15 Round(on other pets), NT(:D take that martians!), and for some instances too. Basically anywhere Matks get on your nerves he's the solution if u have him high enough lvl.

4. HP, he has a ton of it. Lvl 60 mine has over 600 naked, over 900 with an armlet and I usually put cloudy sword on him so he has about 1.2k. My friend has a lvl 120+ Sam and he has 1k hp naked without scrolling any con. Waaaaay better than having to scroll your Angela to get HP if you ask me.

Now this is a pet you have to really work at lvling (he can burst so it's not hard at all really but finding a team gets annoying for me), but if you ask me the results are well worth it. :D I've done almost every quest for mages there is out there and used Sam in them because I made 2 new mage characters after v4, and so I've tested him out thoroughly when it comes to questing and I don't regret spending all that effort to max his melee skill and burst him to 60+.

To answer your questions:

Does he have high Atk: Yes, very low damage at the start but lvl 50+, especially with hot fire, he can take chunks of hp at a time, but in comparison to Fred he is weak so don't base him on that alone. Looking at Magellan or Shasha or Eva, at around the same lvls Sam is high damage in comparison.

Does he have Defense?: OMG WHY BOTHER ASKING! YES! As far as I know his defense/HP is the best of any pet released so far. You can't beat him unless you have ur Xaolan use Stone Wall, but that's cheating :P and he has water shield anyway.

Does he have High Speed?: No. I can name about 10 pets at least with more spd than him, but if you scroll 2 int away and put it on agility, he can get plenty enough spd to keep up with most characters... My fire mage lvl 100+ has 200+ spd and my Sam outruns him at lvl 60 and I've only scrolled 2 agility, on the other hand my newb lvl 99 water has near 400 speed and Sam can't keep up so it depends on the range of speed you are looking for. Overall he is a slower pet.

Well my elin is 59lv and she "naked" have 704hp and it higher than your 60lv sam's so her con is good too -_- and i think that i leave with my elin and won't train my 16lv sam XD because i'm not bursting and for that is 2 reasons: i don't have 0spd, and second reason i don't have e.control, so if i would burst with sam there would be one more reason why i ca'nt : because per steal exp XD well 60lv sam is great pet so good luck leveling him up ^.^

only need 0 speed if you are attacking (usually fire) if you are full support speed doesn't matter too much(speed should be higher than attackers so you get last turn of debuffs) Also I burst 4 characters manually. It sucks but if you hotkey your skills its pretty easy. just long and boring

once i met this guy his sam was lvl 90+ he was able to clean streak my lvl 120 char using his skilled attk the only thing is that i was actually on lvie 1/50 on my hp but my hp is 5k+ so my con is hard to get pat but that sam whiped me . too bad i didnt fly

Now, back on topic-Sam is particularly useful after being RB. Consumes half of his HP to deal massive damage. His water shield isn't bad either.

There is a guy on Virgo called Vrag with a Lv 181 sam (must have saved those pet exp caps)and with skysword on this sam rocks XD non hot fired damage is awesome i got a screen shot on Jobskill 3 ds and sam combo one hiting on 1 of the clay soldiers. Non hot fired this sam hits well over 4k xd, i think he got friendship brooch and some nice attck equips on him.
So yes even before V5 RB high level sam rocks !

I share your problem... There are of course ways to level non bursting. They will take more time and food though...

i think sam is useless he was lvl 40 for me and cant even kill a tender cirrus with fury strike or normal atk .-.

there are no useless pets..
all pets has something good.
sam is a tank/killer pet.
my friend's is lv 180+ and does 3k+ dmg with no hf on fire *.*
and has 2k+ hp.
still think he is useless? =.=

well i think that all good pets look as bad at start, look at xaolan roca and niss almost all players chose roca because she have strong atk and not die so easily, but... she can hit only one pet while niss with her skill can hit 6 subjects at once ^^ she gsed can be very helpful in quests :) well i don't say roca is useless she gsed can kill mobs too but only 1 by 1 ^^

i think elin is useless cuz my elin lvl98 rb but still kill troll dmg 158 158 158 158 . if normal atk then got 500 . also if elin without her gun her atk is only 70 and my sam lvl only 14 without sword got 78 atk

i'm sure this person probably already had the answer to their questions answer, or perhaps is using a new pet by now or prolly has 3 rb pets. also chances are they probably no longer even play the game its been 3 years since the last post was made to this thread anything is possible.
