nope, but the down side is that the amount you need to upgrade an equip each level will increase by 1 so like lv 4 would take 5 to upgrade to lv 5 and then it would take 6 to upgrade to lv 6

if you wanted to make an item mall eq go up to +10, it would take 1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9+10 = 55 SS

Another downside is that you always gotta keep the thing u used the ss on in tiptop shape or all your ss would be a waste if it breaks.
You also should know that when using the ss, it refreshes the equipment. For example, your cresent bow+1 is wearing and you use 2 ss to make it cresent bow+2. The cresent bow would change from cresent bow+1 wearing to cresent bow+2 good.

This is basically how I keep my IMs in good condition, also good motivation to use the SS I get to up my gear instead of trying to spend them as currency lol.
