This question goes out to all,

Would you still play WLO even if none of your friends played anymore? Or say you have some friends still but they rarely come on?

Would you make new friends or just stop playing or...??

I'm so curious... hehe ^.^

hehe thats actually a very interesting question ^^ since im a quite old player from libra....

A few years ago when WLO was still new and all of the servers had masses of tents in kelan <-- ppl selling stuff cuz carnie was full too) Me and 3 other ppl from my family played and i had a good guild and lots of friends (burst wasnt there, so we only got to like lvl 30 or so xD)
then (as u may already know) i took a massive break and when i came bk, no1 was playing anymore, and libra was dying :/ but i still managed to find a husband and friends ^^ (even though now my hubby dosent even play anymore TT^TT)

So my answer is yea, id keep playing :3

Very interesting... My guess is because you've played for so long, it is quite hard to officially leave but I don't know that's just my assumption

Personally I have been playing for years too and only one of my friends, my 'brother' still plays and even that it just occasionally. And yet, I still find myself coming on the game every now and then even if it's only for a few minutes... but now it's getting tiring if you know what I mean...

yeah true :/ i guess in some servers its easier to make friends and some harder. I guess its up to you when u go on the game or not :/ im not sure if theres a method for making friends so u continue playing. maybe either try to find friends (like a guild, for eg?) or just stop playing in total, but thats a bit hard, so i guess u can carry on the thing that ur doing, but just change it in accordance to how you feel :/

I pretty much stay on sb all day, so it's easy to make friends xDD
But hey, what's a game without friends? You just have to keep making new ones when others leave. It's hard but that's life ;-;

I played WL on Aries a few years ago and had a lot of friends online but then got wayyy too addicted to the game so I went cold turkey and quit. I played with my sister and cousin (real life) too, but they fell behind because they didn't want to go on as often as I did. A couple years down (now) the three of us who know each other in real life restarted on a less populated server (Gemini) and we are trying to see how far we get without buying a single IM point (so pretty much bursting is off the table), and without bothering anyone else for help outside the 3 of us. It's a slow way to play the game, but we are actually enjoying it and seeing how much we can avoid this ridiculous Pay-to-win phenomenon.

Basically to answer your question Angel, if even one of us quit WL, the other 2 would also. So no, if my friends stopped playing, I would not keep playing. We are a team yo :P

Honestly, I would keep playing because im just in love with the system and mechanics of this game. I had an active guild and friends on my first server, Saggi, but when they all quit i moved to Aries. Nowadays I barely talk to anyone unless it's for business and i still have fun (:

haha Kingalu and Neon are right when they say its hard. And you can never tell who's going to be a good friend or not unless the worst comes and hits you in the face...

But LolChans just proves how some would quit if they're friends weren't there anymore... I guess it just depends to how much you love the game

My situation is the same as you Venth, but you seem fine to go on in the game despite really knowing any friends. I wish to stay too because I have spent years on the game and have accomplished so much I would hate to just leave and see it all go to waste... but then again it gets sooo boring when none of my friends are even on :(

This game is much better with friends, when most of my friends either quit or betrayed me I quit the game.

The only friends I really have left from the game (I met them here, not even in game/on my server) are Fon and Ctr.

lol I was going to keep quiet and just stalk this page but vampie commented so I will too. Here is what I was planning to say (before I changed my mind);

If you like the game then continue to play it regardless if you have friends or not. In all honesty like real life if you were to move to a new town or move away to college or transfer school or w/e the reason is, you will eventually have to leave your old friends behind. Or vice versa and maybe they are the ones that leave. In the end you will have to make new friends no matter what.

Though at first you may feel lost without them and alone you may move on to another game since that old game brings up painful memories so you leave and meet new friends in that new game. Though you may fiend yourself thinking I wish SpongeBob was here, he/she would have loved this game. So it would make no difference I think if you stayed. Once in a while your old friends will eventually come back even if its to visit and some times there is the rare occasion that they ill stay.

Vamp and I had left this game to play a few others game together. After some time when she quit I also left to because it got lonely and she was the only one I knew in that new world. Eventually I found myself visiting this game again because its like an old town. Although the best friend you had has left there are still people in that town you know; from the creeper who lives next door who spies on you with his binoculars to the cute boy/girl next door you ha a crush on or even that old grannie who gives you sweets when you visit or take her dog out for walks.

So in the end even though your friend is gone and you may feel alone. In truth they are never really gone and you are never really alone and some times you will find yourself making new friends or meeting new people so you have stories to tell that old friend and one new reason to contact them. After all its the 21 century if you miss them you can call, facebook, Skype, email or I dunno send out a falcon or train a pigeon "tweet tweet" ♪♬ ♪♬

DevilxAngel, I've played for quite some time myself, and in all honesty the game itself is not for everyone. I've tried inviting some of my real life friends to play and they just don't want to. But if you ask me...I love the game. Even with the huge amount of r****ded scammers and over-exaggerated prices, the game itself is still fun. I see the only way I will have fun in this game is if I just spend a good amount of points at the start and then lvl to a really high lvl around 150 rb, then after that I do everything solo or with a friend. Thats why I aim to be someone who can do quests without having to worry about eq breaks and the 2 hour time limit. People will pay me to do quests and I can sit back and smile as I not only earn a profit but also from time to time, make a great new friend. I stopped playing WLO at the start of my Junior Year in high school to focus on my studies. Now Senior year is about to start and I get hooked on wlo again. Even though the prices of Taurus are 10 times what they use to be, I still play the game as I normally do. I now have most of everything I want and the only thing left is to level to a high level. Once Taurus starts dying out like many other servers, I'll probably move to Aries but by that time characters would have all been lvled so much I could definitely make a living (and yes...I was planning on making all my important accs vip and transfer each of them to Aries). It's a long road but if you're willing and dedicated enough, you can stick to this game even if everyone else becomes major d**k-heads.

Besides...aren't we friends? I'm always on Taurus!

And yes luckily we have the ability to communicate with friends elsewhere except for those who have already left and therefore there is like no way to contact them :(
Honestly though, despite what you all say, what is there to do without your friends? Quest alone? Compete in events alone? Sooner or later wouldn't you want someone there too? I mean I agree the game is fun but... friends for me is what makes it really fun ._.

I'm not planning to leave for good by the way.. probably should have stated that at the beginning xD I just want some friends playing with me that's all. Lately I've just been walking around doing a lot of nothing
and we are friends FlameBrag!! But I often don't see you on anymore x.x

seriously? I don't see Salacia online anymore so its no wonder...

umm and I think so... I have no interest in RB whatsoever right now. I'm working on my fires now. Trying to level them to 180 so I can then get them to 199 too. I know it will take ages but hey I did it with Sala and I'm in no rush ^.^

I'm gonna write a better post regarding the situation now that I've read more of the posts.

To be honest this game was like a drug, I struggled and struggled to let go of it but it kept coming back and I still struggle with letting it go... I sometimes want to come back but I always know it'll be the same and I'll end up quitting again..

I have 2 friends I met from my server, M and S, though I hardly speak to them on skype anymore.

I also met my significant other, three years ago, because of this game and we even met in real life! (I plan on moving with Zie as well!)

All in all if the game didn't count on others (instances, big quests, market, etc etc) I would continue to play it but imo it heavily relies on other players so it's hard to play when you just can't be bothered with all the drama of the cliques.

People don't really treat the game as what it is... a game, but they treat it more like a social website or a high school.

The mechanics of this game is just sooooo good

I often feel bad because I just have characters upon characters full of stuff, ranging from a bunch of food, seeds, and everything useless up to IM items and diamond'd armor on every character when I could give it to somebody who would use it instead... But where were those people when I needed stuff?

Tldr: I'd play it if I could play it in singleplayer mode, it's just so good... But as you said, it just gets tiring after awhile... (At this point I would suggest finding a new game unless you've invested a lot of money into this game)

hmm agree with all your points ._.
Game = addictive
Quit? --> Go back to game few days/weeks later
Drama in game? --> Can't be bothered --> Influences choice to quit
People treat game like social website? = 100% true
Mechanics of game = good indeed

and wow I feel the same too! I have sooo many items that I don't exactly need but when I think of how hard and long I worked to earn all the items, the idea of giving it to someone else turns me away instantly.... I mean we suffered through it, they should to.. they should learn to earn too...

Game tiring after a while? = Definitely
But you still go back to it? = Yep

I once "quit" and thought I was gone for good, gave away everything..

when I came back I realized that was a mistake, but now I've been off for a really long time and just want to give my stuff away now that I know I probably won't ever come back.

I've always tried to find games exactly like this and the closest I've gotten to it is Villagers and Heroes but that game is quite slow combat wise and you have to grind for everything, If you thought grinding alchemy levels on here was bad. It's worse there

However. I would totally come back to wlo just once to have a massive wlodb party! I'd love to meet you and others here! <3

There's people who can just quit cold turkey and drop the game, but it's so hard for this game.

hmm been playing for 4 and a half years now
and still haven't left the game xD

What happened with you with giving all of your stuff away but then coming back is something I'm always paranoid about which is also why I never give away anything.
I'm on the same boat with you in terms of not being able to leave this game. I've left others but wow it's hard with this one
