I never got a -8 rank jump before using Superior. Mind elaborating about what makes you convinced that the rank drop for Superior is now -8?

oh...you mean you can get items that have a -8 rank drop...I feel like a fool...

You can try this formula if wanna know :
Iron Net Boots + Vertical Wings + Wolf Tooth + Iron Net Boots....
Spam that formula until you get rank 9 equipment, the drop is from rank 17 to rank 9, it is sucks that the fact we will get lower level equipment

i never had a eq i made that got me a -8 jump before, except for a common rock from superior(Sacred Wands Q_Q)

My guess is that the iron fine sword is also iron/wood/hard tissue. the result of the fail alchemy should be a rank 10 from 17 (-7 jump). But because there is no eq that has a base of iron/wood/hard tissue that is a rank 10, it has no choice to pick the next lower rank 9 which happens to be a iron fine sword.

i hope i explained correctly.

Edit: You should try iron net boots + wolf tooth + propeller + iron net boots instead.
it is 100% guarantee to get rank 20/21 iron using superior.

According to my experience, I think it should become common stone or junk(iron based) instead like it always does. But yes you are right that it should go at least rank 10 because maximum drop is -7 from rank 17, but it still become a rank 9 Iron Fine Sword, means -7 drop from superior alchemy is not applied

but it is still a -7 drop and still hasn't changed.

i dont know any other way to explain it. it just how it works. There are plenty of other eqs that follow this same rule/logic as my previous post.

there is no rank 10 that has a base of iron/wood/tissue so the result has no choice to go to the next lower one.

Edit: heres another example~
remember when IGG released these new eqs Rosy Woolen Clothes(feather/leather) and black Quill Shoes(feather)? Before those were released my fails would get me a ink from compounding feather/nylon which was weird.

There arent many feather based eqs out there and ever since those eqs were released ive been getting them from fails ever since.

Like for making thief gloves(feather/leather rank 25) a fail should get me a rank 18 but since there is no rank 18, it jumps into the next lowered rank 14 Rosy Woolen Clothes which also has feather/leather based.
that would make it as a -11 drop but it is still -7 drop because there arent any eq to fill it in.

I think to simplify what alchemy means is that
It's like a guy who got his lv 100rb friend to participate for the 15r but he didn't show up so the guy substituted him with a lv 61 fire noob at the last second because everyone else was already paired up.

I believe you are making (Thief Gloves) using Feather boots + steel thorn bracer, am I right?
The rank drop is calculated from lowest rank of material used, not taken from what we will make.
So Feather Boots(rank 24) + steel thorn bracer(rank 22), you get Rosy woolen clothes(rank 14)
If you calculated it right, it is -8 rank drop from rank 22 to 14.
For black quill shoes I`m not sure cause never getting any of them even just now when I tried, just got that roxy woolen clothes until now
I kind of sure cause been studying formula for a year, am using own formula even making lvl 80++ equipment

i was trying to say that i was making a cool boots bookless from a thief gloves + beast cuffs and instead i got a rosy woolen clothes. They are annoying to make

feather based eqs.
thief glove + beast cuff should get me a cool boot but it can fail. the maximum drop is -7, so 25-7=18. But as you can see on the link, there is no rank 18 eq available that is feather/leather base. so it goes to the next lowered ranked item which is rosy woolen clothes.

even if it is a fail, it wouldnt make sense if it is suppose to be a rank 1 junk because there is no junk that has a base of feather/leather.

try making the cool boot bookless, im sure you can get a few rosy woolen clothes.

if iggs plans to release more eqs to replace those missing drops, those eqs would appear instead of the rosy woolen clothes.

less chance to fail cause feather + leather can get you thief gloves again and over again, happen to me once xD
