I noticed that a lot of high rank materials can be purchased from the Hawaii Convenience Store. Can these items be obtained through compounding? Obviously it is much more convenient to purchase them from the store, but I was just curious if it was possible. Thanks!

Sorry, no sadly they cannot. The only two items that can be manufactured are. Energy Drink and Black Coffee. In all honesty I think its faster to purchase those items than trying to make them. Look at the recipe of how to make them and you'd agree. Back in version 3 before I knew about the Hawaii shop I used to make those drinks by scratch. I was mostly only able to make like 5 at most because it was a pain and with a stack of each item you can pretty much only make 5 and it takes way to long. Its just not worth making them.

There are also syrup (juice boxes) you can get from the shop. But you can get a 5th version of the Juice called Fruit Berry Syrup from Training island from the shark/Nessie area.

As for all other items you cannot make. BUT you can get substitutes for those items.
For example;
Refined Tin (Base: Tin, Rank: 18) is 3500g, you can get from Egypt by purchasing the Forest Staff. (base: Tin, rank: 18) for 660g.
Delicate Leather (B: Leather, R: 18) 1400g, can be substituted with Demon Gloves from Egypt {B: Leather, R: 18) it's 660g.
The only two other Rank 18 base you cannot get from Hawaii you will be able to get in Egypt and that's Copper (Copper Crest) and Steel (Sea Armour)
The Iron base also from Egypt is Rank 17. This is why all compounder go to Egypt as well as Hawaii. I'm sure you notice a lot of people in Egypt around the weapon shop NPC sometimes with gear, mushrooms or rocks tossed on the ground.

There are some rank 16 items you can get from other shops like Titanium (wolf bracers 560g) from Bangkok (Hawaii is 3700g for rank 18 titanium).
There are others you can find that you can use as substitutes (if you look) but you will have to compound with other in hopes of ranking them up (often you might need to waste books) or it will just fail.

All other items in other Shops you get are all under rank 15 so requires a bit of ranking up. Annoying to do and you will most likely FAIL, so it's often cheaper and easy to just go to Hawaii and get the already higher ranked version, plus it saves on book.

And finally other than mining (like black jades, base: jade, rank: 25) or instance items (rank 30+). There are items you can farm (like wolf/snake tooth, base: hard tissue, rank: 20) or you can Manufacture stuff like wood rank: 19-21 and Aluminum (airship Steer, Rank: 16), which you cannot get from Hawaii ('cept wood).
There are more other items you can manufacture as well. Just look around your machines and see what high ranks there are that are size 1x1 and find out their base. You can instead use them for substitutes cause its free to make (just take up a few hours of your time to make).

Hope these tips help you since Hawaii is so expensve. Also don't forget you can always use A VIP Card or Shopping Card in Hawaii to save 50% off all purchases. These are best done in bulk... (cannot be used with the microwave, would be a waste of the card if it was possible)

later on when you're into compounding, you can actually use some of these hawaii mats such as QQ noodles to make mysterious bracers
or the seafood sauce into making eqs such as shining armor

Just making sure that I have the right concept here, but is it because those items are cheaper high ranked items that can be used as the second base for [Base]/None compounds?

Wow... looking back at my first comment I noticed I made so much typos.. (sigh) I'll have to go back though and fix that.. so sad.

Aniiiiways~ moving on.

PRO: Yes, the food are useful for higher ranked items with no second base. The packets are like rank 20 and the cooked food are like rank 27-28.

CON: I do not think they are cheaper than any other the Hawaii mats. They cost about 900g each to purchase the packets and then another 500g each to use the microwave to cook them. Total of 1400g for 1 meal.

CONCLUSION: Compared to getting something like gold that's rank 18 for just 3000g then yes it's cheaper because you get rank 28 rice or seafood for 1400g. Though its only best usage is something of "none" base.

The QQ Noodles, rank 27, I suppose is cheaper because you can get the instant noodles for free. 15 each week from 15-Round or 50 randomly from that lvl 20 instance, and it also Costs 500g each to make in the microwave. (maybe one day they will add microwaves as a in home feature so we can do all this for free in our tents.
