For the machines, you probably won't get much for them, or anything at all. You can just recycle them if you don't want to go through the trouble of making another account, but honestly, like mentioned above, its the easiest solution, next to making stairs. And if you have the time to do XP cap quests or enough events to get to lvl 182 (or higher, by now) then I'm sure you have the 5 minutes to make a new character, but it really depends on if you want to.

I got so many characters, I have to use a spreadsheet to keep track of the logins and passwords :(

I hear some cases people got banned because of opening too much account under 1 i.p adress.The reason for the banning is flooding the server (is that true?)

No, you can open how ever many chars you want to... but the people that got banned had over 100 chars on a server/in a spot and was using a third party program to do so(basically cheating..)
