Personally I think a single thread for asking all question will be hard to manage. After about 2 week, taking in account that every question is asked here, This thread will become so large that it would be alot easier just to make a new topic.
On top of that instead of a single thread for question. We should instead institute a search initative. Where we encourage and teach people to search.
Remember we can search both topics and posts, among other things. If awareness is raised on the search features of the website and people understand that if they do not find what they are looking for in a Topic search. They can always do a Post search which will search the information people have posted in posts.
